ROMA FAQs
GENERAL
Q. What is ROMA Boots?
A. ROMA Boots is a socially conscious 'buy one give one' boot company that merges fashion with philanthropy. For every pair of ROMA boots sold, a brand new pair of ROMA rain boots are donated to children and families across the world.
Q. How was ROMA founded?
A. Samuel Bistrian, who was born in a small village in Romania, conceived of the idea in 2009 after more than a decade of taking annual trips to Romania where he saw children roaming the streets with sandals, broken shoes or no shoes at all, through mud, rain and snow. Samuel decided it was time to do something about it and founded ROMA Boots in 2010.
Q. What does ROMA mean?
A. ROMA is amor spelled backwards. Amor means love, which is ROMA’s primary motivation. It is also the proper term for the gypsy people, who are generally a poor, marginalized population that ROMA initially provided most of our donations to.
Q. Are the boots you give only for the ROMA children?
A. No. We want to help the most impoverished children of the world, especially street children and orphans. The majority of the children we have served so far have been ROMA.
Q. How can I help promote your cause or get others involved?
A. There are many ways to help by donating, spreading the word, or organizing events. Whether you are a student, a stay-at-home mom, an event coordinator or activist, we would like to hear from you. Email us at info@romaboots.com.

A. ROMA Boots is headquartered in Shops at Park Lane across from NorthPark Mall. Our address is 8020 Park Lane, Suite 135, Dallas, TX 75231 (across the street from Forever 21 and Old Navy)

Q. What is ROMA Foundation?
A. ROMA Foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization and nonprofit subsidiary of ROMA Provisions. ROMA Foundation was created to carry out ROMA's global mission of "giving poverty the boot"! You can learn more about ROMA Foundation on their website here: ROMA Foundation
Q. How often do you distribute boots and how?
A. We donate rain boots anywhere from 2 - 5 times a year (depending on the need and the amount requested by our nonprofit partners). For large boot distributions, we work with our larger nonprofits, like World Vision Canada, Buckner International, and GAiN. For small scale boot distributions, ROMA often takes the boots directly into the countries and partners with local organizations to get the boots distributed to those in need. Boot distribution usually takes place in villages, school, and communities.
Q. Why rain boots?
A. Rain boots are the most basic and practical necessity in cold and wet climates. Because most rural areas don’t have the luxury of paved roads, children are forced to walk through deep snow, mud and slush without proper footwear. Rain boots are essential.
Q. What if I don’t need a pair of boots, can I still purchase a pair for a child in need?
A. Absolutely! Please visit ROMA Foundation's Donation page to make your tax-deductible donation. You can visit the page here: DONATE
Q. Why do you support educational initiatives?
A. The majority of the children that we help are illiterate. We strongly believe in the Chinese Proverb, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” Our ultimate goal is to help these kids break out of their cycle of poverty. We can only accomplish that by supporting their education.
Q. How can I go on a boot drop trip?
A. ROMA Excursions (formerly boot drops) are currently not accepting open applications. ROMA Foundation is in the process of creating the ROMA Excursion program. Please check ROMA Foundation's website to see when the program will be available.
Q. How can I get involved in your cause?
A. Please email us at info@romaboots.com or write to us at P.O Box 1368, Leonard, TX 75452. If you would like to get involved with ROMA Foundation, you can contact them directly at info@romafoundation.com.
