Bienvenidos a Mexico!
Our recent boot drop in Mexico was an amazing success! We served the indigenous people of Aquismon in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi. Roma Boots partnered with the American Airlines Latin Diversity Network to travel to San Luis Potosi, Mexico with representatives from both companies to deliver Roma Boots and other gifts to the indigenous people. In addition to the five hundred boots donated, the Latin Diversity Network provided blankets and traditional Mexican food products through other certified charities for the families of Aquismon.
The Mayor of Aquismon, Yolanda Josefina Cepeda Echavarria, helped set up the donation event for the indigenous people of the small village of Octujub in Aquismon. The indigenous people living in Octujub live in the mountains and walk through miles of rugged terrain just to get to transportation. The items donated were a huge necessity especially through the rainy season that extends from June to September. Our Roma Foundation Coordinator, Megan, was able to serve on this boot drop and loved the experience, "The special part about this boot drop is that we were able to donate our rain boots to the men and women as well as children. Most of the time the men and women are overlooked but are also in need of these necessities. It was an amazing experience to see the impact the donations did for all of the families."
